Main Living Area

A house of and for art

With a woodburning fireplace and a window that looks out toward the Tucson Mountains, the living room is designed to make conversation easy as well as viewing the widescreen television (with many DVDs in the cupboard alongside the cabinet).

Behind the bookcase, well stocked with books, is a desk and reading chair providing its own little corner for writing or reading. The closet is for coats but also the modem and what is needed to keep the house up and the computers working.

There are two inside tables for dining. The dining room is an alcove off the living room with a sideboard for dishes and another for games, tablecloths, napkins, and mats. The house makes full use of sculptures, paintings, and Native American crafts-- all inspired by the Southwest. This is a home aimed at comfort, sanctuary, and increasing creativity in anyone.

A desert dream

For years I dreamed of a home on the desert
then one year it came true.
Then I wondered at the name for the little house--
Casa Espiritu it told me.
As with all dreams, it is not somewhere I constantly live,
but it is always waiting when the time is right.

In my spirit home, I have seen dreams come true,
created art, loved, wept, experienced being.

I have watched javelina, coyotes, bunnies, birds, bobcats
and most especially the families of quail.

I have seen the lightning flash and felt the house rocked by thunder.
I have watched the moon rise over Pusch Ridge
seen the sun go down behind the Tucson Mountains.

From it, I have gone out to find interesting trails,
desert pools, creeks, petroglyphs.
I've watched the desert bloom, seen it snow

The house is magic, or just a simple home
and you bring the magic.
